The famous Yoga Guru and the businessman of India, Ramdev, has declared that allopathy is not a super science rather its stupidity. He also mentioned that lakhs of people died after taking allopathic medicines. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) had appealed to the prime minister for taking appropriate action against him for spreading misinformation against the covid19 vaccine.
The conspicuous ant-allopathy public tirade by Baba Ramdev had put the Medical fraternity in shock. Indian Medical Association had filed legal complaints against him for making such public remarks and misleading people. The doctors mentioned that a person with significant influence is speaking like this against doctors and medicines and misleading people. It can be very dangerous in the pandemic. It is a crucial time when the pandemic is at its peak, and such remarks by any famous and influential persons should take a back seat.
No one should criticize the modern science that is saving millions of lives today. It is the scientists and doctors working tirelessly in researching the development of medicines to save thousands of lives. Scientists have developed a vaccine in a record time frame to protect people from getting infected by the covid19 pandemic. They should be appreciated rather than being criticized.
The vaccine was developed in less than a year and was ready to be used. Allopathy may be regarded as an imperfect system, but it allows human beings to fight at the time of health-related crises. Union Health Minister also called it very unfortunate and an inappropriate remark that Ramdev made. Ramdev was also claiming that “Allopathy is a stupid and Diwalia Science,” as mentioned by ANI News. He said that thousands of people have died across the world by taking allopathic medicines to treat covid19.
Science always invites questions and also accepts corrections that are based on evidence and data. It provides transparency and helps in trust-building. But Ramdev did not provide any facts or scientific evidence regarding his comments on allopathy. He didn’t provide any factual information regarding it. This type of terrible mindset can be disastrous for the country.
But we should not only blame Baba Ramdev. Many politicians and other renowned personalities have confused people over the years by comparing mythology facts with medicine. They have also reached science with superstitious points. Modern India believes in enlightenment values with proper reason and facts and believes in truth.
The Indian Medical Association had lauded prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi for the efforts he had put forward in addressing the nation on the importance of vaccination to prevent oneself from the covid19 pandemic. He also motivated people in his “Man Ki Baat” episodes that he conducts every month to address the nation and share his thoughts and viewpoints and other valuable information.
The IMA had already said that they would follow the standard protocols and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health of the Government of India. IMA, the professional organization representing modern science, has repeatedly stated that it respects and acknowledges all the systems of medicine and treatment, especially Ayurveda. They also said that they are not against the drugs promoted by the Ayush Ministry to treat almost all diseases and problems faced by the people of India.
But modern science and allopathy are fighting from the frontline against the deadly pandemic that has claimed thousands of lives in India and across the world. Modern medical doctors are putting their lives at risk for treating patients suffering from the deadly virus. According to the data provided by the Government of India, India has lost 753 doctors in the first wave of covid19 and around 513 in the second wave of covid.
Indian Medical Association has put serious allegations against Baba Ramdev for spreading false and misleading information, which is one of the leading causes of people hesitating to take vaccines after it was launched initially. He also faced allegations for creating superstitions in the mind of the people, which led to discouragement in public for taking vaccines. IMA had appealed to the government of India for appropriate lawful actions against anyone spreading false and misleading information to the public without any facts or data being put forward by them.
